Dr. Valerie Shiu

Board Certified Mohs Surgeon

Dr. Valerie Fisher Shiu is double board certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (Mohs surgery). She is a member of The American College of Mohs Surgery and The American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Shiu graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio and graduated at the top of her class, inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Texas Health San Antonio where she was chief resident her final year. She completed her Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship training at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Dr. Shiu has practiced Mohs surgery at the VA in San Antonio and UT Health at San Antonio. She is the chief of dermatologic surgery at the VA as well as the associate program director for the dermatology residency program. She enjoys treating advanced skin cancers and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Shiu is married to her high school sweetheart Daniel Shiu. They are the proud parents of a son and a goldendoodle.
